Mission and Philosophy

The mission of First Presbyterian Weekday School is to provide an intellectually challenging education for the mind, spirit, and body of all students in a nurturing Christian environment.

1. Parent-Toddler Program

• Our program offers kid-friendly, skill-building activities for you and your toddler
• Wednesday Class (24-30 months); Friday Class (18-24 months)
• Activities to:
  • encourage creativity
  • stimulate imagination
  • develop early language
  • strengthen growing muscles
  • foster independence

2. Preschool

• Warm and accepting environment that nurtures physical, emotional, social, and intellectual growth
• Encourages creative expression and self-esteem
• Firm guidelines, positive reinforcement
• A well-rounded program rich in materials and equipment
• Relating to others socially and to be part of a group
• Develop problem-solving techniques

3. Elementary

• Well-delineated and grade-appropriate acquisition of concepts
• Instructional methodologies consistent with students’ developmental levels, learning styles and social/emotional needs
• Evaluation strategies appropriate for measuring authentic applications of concepts and skills
• Learning environments appropriate for enhancing pupils’ self-worth
• Curriculum is aligned with the California State Standards
