Dress Code
A. Preschool
- Casual play clothes, easy for the child to handle and suitable for messy activities and materials are recommended.
- Boots and long dresses prohibit a child’s ability to participate in all activities. They should be worn at home, not at school. Sandals must have a back strap.
- Children must be independent in their toileting needs and may not attend school in diapers or pull-ups.
B. Elementary
- Plain (no logo) polo shirts and navy blue sweatshirts may be purchased at any store. Polos must be of school-approved colors (white, classic navy, light blue, hunter green or evergreen). In the fall the school sells t-shirts and sweatshirts bearing the school mascot. T-shirts may be worn on Fridays only.
- All outerwear must be of a solid navy blue color. It should fit tastefully with the uniform and be free of all logos, except that of First Presbyterian Weekday School. No type of scarves may be worn to school.
- All students must wear white full crew socks. Sport socks and “peds” are not allowed. Girls may also wear white knee socks and tights (white or navy).
- Plain navy, brown or black belts may be worn. Belts must fit properly (no tails) and may not have studs or any type of adornment.
- Girls are encouraged to wear shorts under skirts and jumpers, particularly on physical education days. All students’ shorts and/or skirts must be fingertip length. Painter, cargo and flared-leg pants do not meet dress code standards.
- Hairstyles may not be extreme in style or length. Highlighting is not acceptable. Boys’ hair can be no longer than the top of the uniform shirt collar.
- Hats or head coverings of any kind may not be worn at any time during regular school hours.
- All jewelry, when worn, must be done in moderation. Body piercing, with the exception of stud earrings for girls, is not allowed. Bracelets, including rubber wristbands, must be limited to one only.
- Clear or neutral colored lip-gloss is the only permissible make-up. Girls may wear light-colored nail polish.
- Backpacks must be able to hang on the back of a chair or on a hook. Those with wheels are allowed in grades 3-5 only. Backpacks may not have key chains or any other articles dangling from them.
- Umbrellas pose a safety hazard to other children. They will not be allowed on campus.
